AMY BRANDIS
Amy leads the development slate at Alef UK, working closely with Gilles Bannier to create an ambitious set of series and films that aim to entertain and speak to contemporary audiences. Amy began her career in London as a reader for production companies including Mammoth Screen, BAFTA Rocliffe and STV. Later, Amy moved to Paris where she worked as a journalist, before returning to the world of film and television as a script reader and consultant for Wild Bunch. During that time she also wrote and directed her debut short film, ‘Screw the Pooch’, which won Best Comedy at the BIFA-qualifying Brighton Rocks Film Festival. She also won the Austen Film Festival Pitch competition 2022 for her feature film script ‘Of Sound Mind’.
Returning to the UK in 2022, Amy worked as a script editor on BBC Studio’s iconic returning series, EastEnders. There she scripted edited and provided production support for over 44 episodes of the show, including the notable week of Lola Pierce’s death, and Ben Mitchell’s arrest and deportation.
Amy is fuelled by her love of storytelling and has a broad cross-genre taste. She’s compelled to find and nurture stories that fit with Alef UK’s motto of ‘no taboo, no borders’.
